Amsterdam, the tried and trusted favourite is still up there with the best. It has fallen down the popularity rankings in recent years due to the increasing number of former Eastern Bloc capitals becoming more accessible such as Prague and Budapest. It will be interesting to see if the opening up of the Baltic States will further undermine Amsterdam.

It still remains one of the greatest small cities in the world – its population is only 735,000. Regarded as the city of tolerance. Soft drugs are legal in the coffee shops and prostitution has been legal since 1815 – it’s even been taxed by the Government since 1996. If you do visit with a stag group then it won’t be to see the canals, flower markets, galleries or museums. However the city does have both a Sex and Erotic Museum.

Yes it sounds exciting and you will have a good time. However consider a few things before you ditch the UK for your stag weekend. Firstly the cost, the flights are not so cheap anymore. Take into account transfers to and from the airport as well and that price suddenly starts to increase. Delays with flights are another problem that can arise with budget airlines. This can be a problem if you only have a limited time available. Travel time is another issue – to and from the airport in the UK particularly if you only have a limited amount of time for the trip away. Finally if you intend it to be a big event you will find UK based stag weekends are more inclusive – more people will come for the reason outlined above.
